社会科学
WM是以人文社科学见长的学校，是美国第一个开设现代语言学、当代历史学和法学院的大学。WM的Social Science 专业都在Art & Science学院内。学校偏重于学生综合能力和人文素质的培养，维持其本科一个文理学院式的精英教育氛围。
生物学和生物医药学
WM在生物领域最出名的就是其海洋科学院又称弗吉尼亚海洋科学研究所（The Virginia Institute of Marine Science ,VIMS），成立于1940年，是全美最庞大最古老的海洋学学院。学院的研究方向主要为近海海域学及河口学。该学院拥有三个校区、57名教员和100-125名学生。学院下设四个学部：生物学部、环境和水生物学部、渔业学部和物理学部，均由弗吉尼亚州政府出资运转。学院的主校区位于弗吉尼亚州的格洛斯特角（Gloucester Point, Virginia）。
跨学科研究
William＆Mary的Interdisciplinary Studies专业被安排于Art & Science学院之下，课程主要分为两类，学生可以自行安排跨学科学习的专业，或是从学校提供的项目中做出选择。一些跨学科专业获得了国家的独立授权。这些包括美国研究，全球研究，国际关系，公共政策和神经科学。所有其他跨学科学位均授予跨学科研究（INTR）学士/理学士学位。
