 报告内容简介:

The polypeptide chain can reversibly convert between the helical and coiled form in solution, the primary mechanism underlying the helical chain growth of polypeptides shares a remarkable similarity with that of helix-coil transition: both are a nucleation-controlled two-stage process, and a cooperativity factor can be defined to describe the sharp contrast between the two stages. This talk will present some of our latest results arising from revisiting the helix-coil transition and the helical chain growth behaviors in synthetic polypeptides. We have focused on the applicability of these models in describing the experimental model systems under the limiting cases, such as the polypeptides of very high molecular weights, or the polypeptides with local crowding owning to the macromolecular architectures. The aim is to integrate theoretical and experimental approaches to allow for model-driven engineering of complex, polypeptide-based systems in the future.

 

 报告人简介:

林遥,博士,康涅狄格大学化学系和材料科学院高分子专业教授。本科毕业于复旦大学高分子科学系,在麻省大学阿姆赫斯特分校(UMASS, Amherst)高分子科学和工程系取得博士学位,于2011年获得美国国家自然基金会CAREER Award。目前的主要研究方向集中在理解具有复杂结构的大分子的特殊性质,和控制利用这些大分子来发展仿生材料和功能型动态复杂体系,已在Science,Nature, Nature Materials, Nature Chemistry等权威期刊发表论文40余篇,已授权美国专利1项。
