佩斯大学孔子学院联合纽约梨园社举办第十二届冬季文化交流节

2018年11月12日，佩斯大学孔院举行了新闻发布会。公布了近期佩斯孔院和纽约梨园社将联合主办“第十二届冬季文化交流节”的通知 ，并为由纽约梨园社资助的“第八届‘话中国’征文大赛”获奖者和优秀京剧艺术家颁奖。佩斯大学副校长Gary Laermer先生、佩斯大学发展和校友关系部主任Anne Bishop女士、孔子学院外方院长李榭熙教授、中方院长王文琴教授、纽约梨园社总裁Tom Hill等出席了发布会。

Gary Laermer在发布会上表示“‘话中国’征文大赛”极大地增强了佩斯学生对现当代中国了解的愿望，佩斯大学领导层和教授均非常支持。并对孔子学院的贡献表示感谢，他说：“位于曼哈顿金融、文化中心的佩斯大学孔子学院，已成为纽约市重要的中国语言文化中心，为不同年龄段、不同背景的人提供了了解中国的途径和窗口”。同时他特别提到，两周前跟随佩斯大学校长Marvin Krislov去中国会见了佩斯孔院的合作单位南京师范大学陈国强校长，进一步加深了中美两所大学的合作伙伴关系和深厚友谊。

本届“话中国”征文比赛面向全体佩斯学生，由纽约梨园社携手佩斯孔院、佩斯东亚研究中心联合主办，征文主题为“中国社会、历史和文化”。经过征文遴选委员评选，最终Galdino Arias Falcao、Christina Lorenzo和Amberlynn Foote三位参赛学生分别获得了一、二、三等奖。他们分别以“中国引领世界能源革新”、“香港和宝莱坞电影中的亚洲女性”和“ 亚洲社会的‘霸道’教育体系和家教文化”为题，进行了内容详实、语言生动的论述。新闻发布会上， 纽约梨园社总裁Tom Hill给征文一等奖获得者颁奖。

在新闻发布会上， Gary Laermer先生和Anne Bishop女士也为来自中国的京剧艺术家马少良、刘永贵、张景涛、张克、高明博等颁奖，表彰他们在美国推广国粹艺术做出的积极贡献。

11月16日下午，佩斯大学孔子学院和纽约梨园社举办了“国粹艺术京剧老生行当唱、念、做”戏曲讲座系列活动。现场演唱示范，并与观众互动、回答问题。 11月17日，著名表演艺术家马少良、刘永贵、张景涛、张克、单靖、高明博和李吉岭在佩斯大学米高∙施美尔艺术中心登台献艺，上演经典京剧《群英会·借东风·华容道》。

The New York Chinese Opera Society and the Confucius Institute at Pace University Present “The Twelfth Annual Winter Cultural

 Exchange Festival”

On the morning of November 12th, 2018, the Confucius Institute at Pace University (Pace CI) held a press conference to present awards to the winners of the Eighth Annual New York Chinese Opera Society (NYCOS) Essay Competition and to recognize the achievements of visiting performers and local artists at this year’s Winter Cultural Exchange Festival.

The purpose of the essay competition, open to all Pace University students, and sponsored by NYCOS, Pace CI, and the East Asian Studies Program at Pace University, was to spur more in-depth research in Chinese culture and increase the interest and participation of Pace students in Chinese cultural studies.

This year, 1st prize went to Galdino Arias Falcao for his essay, “China Leads the Global Energy Revolution,” a thought-provoking, well-researched, data-driven exploration of a highly significant topic. 2nd place went to Christina Lorenzo for her well-crafted and insightful “Women in Asian Cinema: Hong Kong and Bollywood”, and 3rd place went to Amberlynn Foote for, “An Analysis of the Hegemonic Educational Systems and the Culture of Parenting in Asian Societies: Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par and Jack Neo’s I Not Stupid,” viewed by our reviewers as a solid piece of research with intriguing personal and cross-cultural insights.  

The Twelfth Annual Winter Cultural Exchange Festival brought authentic Peking Opera performances to the New York area. To help the audience better understand this year’s featured opera, Romance of the Three Kingdoms: The Battle of Red Cliffs, an interactive lecture on “The Old Gentleman’s Role in the Peking Opera,” was given by opera star Mr. Ke Zhang.  It was NYCOS’s honor to feature in the main roles Peking Opera stars from China and Greater New York: Shaoliang Ma, Yonggui Liu, Jingtao Zhang, Ke Zhang, Jing Shan, Mingbo Gao and Jiling Li.
