Job Description

The PRF plansand conducts research experiments by laboratory and safety protocols;independently performs non-routine and complex research procedures andtechniques; selects modifies or adapts equipment and procedures to specificresearch needs, and supervises other research personnel as assigned.

Our lab isengaged in a wide variety of human and, through collaborations, animal geneticstudies to identify and characterize genomic variants contributing to complexneuropsychiatric disorders and to elucidate both normal and abnormal geneticactivity in the brain from pre-natal development onwards. The PRF will bean integral part of our team and will be responsible for the acquisition andanalysis of neuroimaging data from human subjects, both with and withoutdiagnoses of psychiatric illness. This will include multiple modalities,including fMRI, resting state fMRI, and diffusion tensor imaging (dTI).Experience with imaging analysis software packages, such as SMP, Freesurfer,Matlab, and FSL is desirable.

Thesuccessful applicant will be able to function independently, work on more thanone project at a time in a team setting, and lead/mentor students and researchassistants, as well as demonstrate an aptitude for preparing manuscripts andgrant submissions.

Salary

Up to$75,000/year benefits; opportunity for grant incentive

PositionDescription: We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher to work in the BrainImaging and Electrophysiology Network (BIEN) laboratory (www.englotlab.com) atVanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee . Dario Englot, MD, PhD is aneurosurgeon-scientist and the principal investigator of the BIEN lab using functionaland structural MRI techniques, as well as intracranial EEG, to betterunderstand brain network pathophysiology in epilepsy and other neurologicaldisorders. Brain networks involved in normal cognitive processes will also beexamined in the lab.

Requirements

This positionrequires a Ph.D. in engineering, neuroscience, or a related field, withproficiency in MATLAB and/or computer programming. Prior experience in imagingis preferred but not required. Both pending Ph.D. graduates and individuals whohave completed previous post-doc training will be considered. An excellentacademic record is critical, including a history of high-quality publications,presentations at national meetings, and experience in submitting grantapplications. Applicants must be reliable, honest, hard-working, independent,and possess excellent communication skills. A minimum time commitment of oneyear is expected, with the potential opportunity for renewal. Salary will becommensurate with University guidelines, and benefits will be provided. Thegrant mechanism requires that the applicant be a United States citizen orpermanent resident.
