The NationalHigh Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) is conducting a search for a new ResearchFaculty member in its DC Field Magnet Facility. This facility is the world’shighest field DC magnet laboratory, located in Tallahassee, Florida. The lab’smission is: “To provide the highest magnetic fields and necessary servicesfor scientific research performed by visiting and in-house researchers from awide range of disciplines, including physics, chemistry, materials science,engineering, biology and geology.”

The candidateselected for this position will work alongside other NHMFL research faculty andtechnicians in the development and improvement of measurement techniques andassociated instrumentation needed for cutting edge, high magnetic fieldresearch. The successful applicant will also have the option to pursueinterests in an independent research effort that would also utilize and improvethe capabilities of the NHMFL user facility.

Qualifications

Ph.D. inphysics, engineering or related field with a demonstrated record of achievementin research.

The YSTprogram aims to provide career development opportunities for young physicistswho are at an early stage of their research career but with a proven record ofresearch. It is anticipated that this fellowship will lead to a more permanentacademic position. All subject areas in theoretical physics are eligible. YSTfellowships will be held at the APCTP, Pohang, Korea, where an idealenvironment for research is provided for potential collaborations with in-housesenior researchers (Junior Research Groups), POSTECH faculty & members,visiting scholars, and participants of various scientific programs organized atthe APCTP or supported by the APCTP.

REMUNERATION

Funding isinitially available for one year, renewable for the second year depending onthe research performance and the availability of resources for the program. Anannual salary, including severance pay, is in the range of KRW 32,500,000 toKRW 40,000,000 depending on research experience and qualification. In additionto the salary, some research expenses and part of relocation costs, KRW3,000,000/year are provided.

Job Description

Princeton University’s Center for the Study of Democratic Politics (CSDP)seeks visiting scholars for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Center supportsempirical research on democratic political processes and institutions.Applications are welcome from political scientists and scholars in relatedsocial science disciplines. CSDP visiting scholar positions are restricted toemployed scholars on leave who are expected to return to their position. Eachscholar will pursue research and contribute to the intellectual life of theCenter, the Department of Politics, and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public andInternational Affairs. CSDP scholars must be in residence at Princeton duringthe academic terms, and are expected to participate in the weekly CSDP seminarsand related weekly research seminars in the Department of Politics, as well asoccasional lectures, conferences, and other events.

Requirements

Successful candidates will receive a competitive salary (those who holdfaculty appointments at other academic institutions normally receive one-halftheir academic-year salaries for the appointment period, but this may varydepending on level of support from the home institution), applicable benefits,a taxable moving allowance, and a research allowance.
