项目概要

EPIIC (Education for Public Inquiry and International Citizenship) Symposium是由坐落于美国波士顿的塔夫茨大学 (Tufts University) 国际领导力组织 (Institute for Global Leadership) 举办的高规格学术论坛。每年EPIIC组委会会选取一个受到广泛关注的国际议题作为主题，邀请来自中国、巴西、俄罗斯、爱尔兰、以色列、新加坡等国的青年学生代表团参与讨论。

EPIIC论坛始于1985年，在国际关系、对外政策等领域的著名学者、政治家、活动家被邀请参加EPIIC高峰论坛，展开对话。近年来，EPIIC对贫困、城市化、南亚、核能、俄罗斯的发展、欧洲的未来、自由主义世界等议题进行了探讨。

北京大学近日再次受邀，将派出代表团参加于2019.3.5-3.11举办的EPIIC会议。入选的代表团成员将得到塔夫茨大学(Tufts University)的全额资助，包括在美的食宿、往返机票等，只需承担签证费用。代表团成员在会前需完成与主题相关的研究、积极参与团队建设活动；在会议期间进行学术展示，并与不同国家的学生代表进行深入、广泛的讨论交流。

年度主题

Migration in a Turbulent World

作为一个世界范围内普遍存在的现象，移民问题的重要性不言而喻。国际移民对移民流出国与移民接受国在政治、经济、社会、安全、法律等方面产生的影响也引起了广泛的讨论与思考。代表团将就“与移民相关的国家利益（National Interest Relating Migration）”为主题进行学术展示。

EPIIC论坛是一个国际化、多元化的平台，我们欢迎北京大学各个专业、年级的同学报名参加。

具有优秀的英语交流能力、对主题有深刻独到的见解、认真严谨的学术态度、做事靠谱有责任感、有团队精神。

加分项：富有创意，擅长视频制作剪辑等技能。

All current, registered Peking University students are eligible for the application. 

We expect the candidate to possess outstanding communicative skill in English, insights into the topic assigned for this year’s forum, demonstrated track record in research, and strong team spirit.

Bonus points go to applicants who are passionately creative in media editing, photography, and filmmaking.

Please note that essay and writing sample constitute important inputs into the decision-making process and will be evaluated for clarity of both reasoning and style.

主题阐释

Migration has become a worldwide phenomenon and its importance today is clear. Concerns with the demographic, economic, social, security, legal and political consequences of international migration have also increased. Discussions on issues such as national security, xenophobia, racial discrimination, social integration, unemployment, brain-drain and brain-gain, human trafficking, and asylum claims have led to a reexamination of international migration policies and the potential benefits and disadvantages to sending and receiving countries.

Some states are questioning whether migration can bring benefits and opportunities to all parties – migrants, states of origin, states of transit and receiving states. With the attention now paid to counter-terrorism and violent extremism, cooperative efforts to address national security concerns posed by the movement of people has become a pressing issue for both receiving countries and countries of origin. And while migration has long been a sensitive matter of national sovereignty, it now encompasses regional and global dimensions.
